I love how potato in French is pomme de terre, which pretty much means “earth apple.”

like what stupid frenchman saw this:

j’adore comment ananas se dit pineapple en anglais, ce qui veut littéralement dire “pomme de pin”, genre quel type anglais a vu ça:

Okay while I think dirt apple is a great name for potatoes and am gonna call them that forever now, I just wanna point out: 

Pineapples look like someone fused a pinecone and an apple, and kinda taste like that too. It’s a good name.
